Medical History Portraits | Stop Motion Animation

Graduate School Work: Portraits Based on Medical Histories.

For this body of work I would interview my subject and record them speaking about their medical histories. I was very interested in what they would conceal or reveal, what they understood, and didn’t understand about their own bodies. From the recordings I would intuitively create these Very large drawings in pencil, then break them down into Screen Prints. Sorry for the poor quality images, it was 2010 and I didn’t value documenting my work. Some prints are still available. You can also always commission a drawing. I still do love this process.

At the bottom you’ll find a stop motion animation I made and projected in my thesis show with my prints. I used the same process for this piece.
