Artwork from 17 San Antonio Artists on View in two locations
SOUTHWEST SCHOOL OF ART - MARCH 5, 2022 – APRIL 6
SALA DIAZ - MARCH 10, 2022 – APRIL 20
Southwest School of Art and Sala Diaz, in collaboration with Contemporary Art Month (CAM) San Antonio, present the 2022 CAM Perennial featuring works by 17 San Antonio-based artists. Selected by guest curator Lauren Cross, Program Coordinator & Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies at the College of Visual Arts & Design, the exhibition celebrates the diverse and compelling artwork emerging from the region.
From Lauren Cross: “Being the guest curator for Contemporary Arts Month San Antonio has been such an honor, becoming acquainted with the practices of such amazing artists in San Antonio who are truly creating ground-breaking work. Identifying artists for the exhibition was difficult because I could see so many angles for the show that would be relevant but ultimately there was a group of artists whose work truly spoke to me, and I felt there was an underlining current across their works that I was really excited to explore. I am humbled to have the opportunity to work with the artists selected for the exhibition, and I look forward to seeing their work on view in March!”
CAM has partnered with Southwest School of Art and Sala Diaz, as well as Dorcól Distillery and Ay Papi’s food truck. The exhibition will be hosted in two venues - at Southwest School of Art and Sala Diaz - with a public kick-off on March 4, 2022 at Blue Star Contemporary featuring CAM Breakout Performances and a screening of local student work.
